“I know their ratings have been very bad”- Donald Trump mocks NBA players for Playoffs Boycott
President Donald Trump says he is unaware of players boycotting the NBA. He thinks that the league has become needlessly political.
LA Lakers’ superstar LeBron James recently made it clear that he does not want to continue playing this season in the aftermath of the shooting of Jacob Blake.
Donald Trump says NBA ratings have been down, hasn’t been following the protests
Jared Kushner spoke about this in an interview with Politico this morning, in which he said:
“I THINK THAT IT’S NICE THAT THEY’RE STANDING UP FOR THE ISSUE, BUT I’D LIKE TO SEE THEM START MOVING INTO CONCRETE SOLUTIONS THAT ARE PRODUCTIVE. AND AGAIN, PRESIDENT TRUMP IN THIS WHITE HOUSE IS WILLING TO WORK WITH THEM.”
Donald Trump further added to the federal government’s position on the same with his words.
Donald Trump is quite clearly not on the best of terms with NBA players and teams. This began when the Warriors declined their customary post-championship visit to the White House in early 2018 as a political move.
Trump, in the past, has ridiculed LeBron James while saying ‘Mike is better’, only for Michael Jordan to come out in support of the NBA icon. The animosity Trump has for the league has clearly not reduced.
The public of the USA would probably like a more consequential policymaker than President Trump to be dishing out this advice to one of the icons of the game. Given the nature of the previous presidential elections, however, anything can happen.
